Cognitive behavioural therapy

How does CBT work?

CBT helps people with medical, social, work, and emotional problems such as stress, anxiety and depression. Other therapies look at the past to find out why you are where you are but CBT focuses on “the here and now” thoughts and beliefs.

The purpose of cognitive behavioural therapy is to help you change thoughts and behaviours that prevent the positive things that you want.

By modifying beliefs, understanding the way you think and practising new skills you can learn to think differently and get the outcomes you desire.

Coping with Stress

Negative thoughts can create stress or make situations seem more stressful. CBT helps to recognise and break the habit of thinking negatively leaving you with a set of tools and a strategy for coping with stress from day to day.

Living with anxiety

It's not nice feeling anxious but it is a normal emotion. CBT teaches you to understand the thoughts and feelings that influence anxiety and you'll learn how to identify and change destructive or disturbing thought patterns.

Understanding depression

Thoughts and feelings play a fundamental role in our behaviour and mood. We cannot control every aspect of the world around us but using CBT together we can learn to interpret and deal with things in our environments.

Testimonials

My client stories…

Louise listened to me. I was never made to feel silly which meant I could share my difficulties. Everything she shared or gave me was specifically for me. It was very relatable and made my treatment more effective in supporting me to make positive changes. Thank you, Louise. Thank you for giving my children their Mum back.

Patchway, CBT for Social Anxiety

If you are ready to make a positive change then CBT can help.

Together we'll create a plan, learn and practise techniques and discover a path to effect positive change.

I offer a free initial consultation so we may discover together if CBT will be suitable for you and what a treatment plan might look like. It takes around 30 minutes by phone or video chat at a time to suit you, anonymous and free of any obligation.

After that, we can work on a flexible appointment schedule that suits you.
